Project #1

The first project of the semester is complete! I had to do a photographic profile...so this is what came up. I think it's funny.

School and...Superman?

Well I have officially been to all my classes and they're ggrrrREAT!...well. I am taking American Heritage again which, obvious from a year ago, is not my favorite subject nor a desired learning opportunity...but I am going to do well this time around, just you wait and see. Then I have intro to Sociology which is a cluster of choice I am taking. That class seems great and interesting. The teacher is cool and relaxed (but demands work to be done, yes yes), perfect for summer. Then there is Intro to Advertising which I am going to love. We have four major assignments throughout the semester. We even get to make a billboard (I believe that's what he said...). Anyway, our final project is a group project where we create an advertising campaign for a local business. The winners get an automatic A in the class. Bring it on! And then there is Advanced Visual Media which is gonna kick my booty but be awesome. I have to create a personal photographic collage by next Tuesday. No ideas yet but they'll come. As well we're going to create a website, a video podcast and some more stuff i'm not sure about yet. Wait I lied, a have a class I haven't been to yet, which is on Thursdays, called Group Dynamics. Anyway. I'm already super busy and having fun. It should be a great semester. And thank goodness I'm doing something! Now for Superman...

My Room

This is kinda funny but I really like my room this semester so I'm showing you. I really wanted a clean slick room for the summer semester and wanted it really bright. Mom, my quilt fits it perfectly. I got these cool lights that remind me of Dr. Octopus's arms and hung some of my projects up from the past. I also got a really cool Lysol spray thingy that hangs on the wall and sprays good smelling stuff every 9, 18, or 36 minutes depending on how often I want it to go off. Iturn it off at night though cause it freaks me out in the middle of the night.

It's Me!

Just a quick post saying I'm here. The internet has been down at my apartment but it's back and ready to roll. Rexburg has been empty but students are starting to flood the streets again getting ready for the new semester. Tip to self: stay clear of Wal-Mart for the next week, if I need toilet paper, go somewhere else. The sun is being felt and the snow is almost all gone. Friends and family are coming out of hibernation. It's good to see people going on walks and runs, including myself. I'm excited for school to start. I am never taking as long a break from the real world as I have this past semester, no sir. I applied for a part time job at Winger's and hopefully there is a possibility there. "We'll let you know by the end of the week," they say....but how many times have I heard that? So i'm gonna call and be annoying. Wish me luck

Bachelor Parties!!!!!!

It's the season of love and you know what that means...BACHELOR PARTIES!!! I have three friends (Rory, Dru, and Jon) getting married within the next month so I threw them a joint bachelor party before their semester ended. Jon just bought a house in Rexburg so I threw it there. We had a nacho bar, pizza, and root beer keggs. Activities included "pin the garter on Katherine Heigl", bachelor Jeopardy, and "how well do you know your fiance?" where I asked their future wives questions about themselves beforehand and quizzed the guys. It was a massively successful party with plenty of surprises to be had. Here are the pictures I'm allowed to show you (just kidding).

Personal Discovery

Well it's that time of year again! A semester has come to a close and college students begin to pack and leave one by one into their summer activities. Some will return for another semester of academic bliss, and others will stay home to work and save their pennies. Those who will return come back to a land of "almost melted- barely there" snow (at least until June, right?...), and welcome in the highly anticipated summer season of heat, smaller classes, snow cones, and bridge jumping. As well, they return to the one constant belonging in Rexburg, that one thing that rarely leaves and seems to be everywhere: me. That is right. Rexburg is my current home, the place in which I reside and live my life experiences. The recent semester did not find me taking classes, nor did it find me employed. But with it came not only fun, Fun, FUN!...but service. Lots and lots of service. It was a little frustrating at first trying to get any fun local jobs before the snotty other college students got them, each time to no prevail. This eventually led to acceptance of lack of employment, thus causing friends and others to realize they could call on me for whatever because "hey, he's not doing anything." While this claim may appear true at first, quite the contrary was eventually proven. I could go on and on with things I have done to keep myself busy: from running to making wedding announcements, to giving rides and even going home for 2 1/2 weeks to visit family and friends, but i'll withhold the details. Just know it was a serious test and journey of self-motivation and personal devotion. Do I sit inside and watch movies all day?...or help a poor married friend with filling his empty car with gas? It didn't take long for me to sum up the obvious choices of what to do with so much extra time: I could serve others. And through all this I discovered more of who I am. I believe that is the purpose of this little place in which I live that brings out major realizations of who we are. Many complain of such little places as being boring, lame, and non-eventful (myself used-to-be-included). But from these past few months I have caught a glimpse of what it means to be a participant of mankind, and that so much substance can be crammed into a small hour.
